Teen Counselling

For teens struggling with emotions, stress, or relationships— to build coping skills, connection, and a stronger sense of self.

The teen years can hold a lot all at once. We offer therapy for teens in a warm, supportive space where they can feel understood, explore what may be going on beneath the surface, and build tools for coping, connection, and self-understanding. During adolescence, relationships continue to matter deeply, and we support teens in strengthening their relationship with themselves, their family, and the people around them.

What brings teens to therapy

Teens come to therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear challenge or event. Other times, things have just felt “off” for a while — and it is getting harder to manage everything alone. Therapy can be a space for teens who are struggling with:

  • Anxiety, stress, or constant overthinking
  • Low mood, sadness, or feeling disconnected
  • Anger, irritability, or emotional shutdown
  • Difficulty managing big emotions
  • Low self-esteem or being hard on themselves
  • Friendship struggles or relationship challenges
  • Family conflict or disconnection at home
  • School stress, pressure, or academic overwhelm
  • Trauma or difficult past experiences

Our goal is to offer teen mental health support that meets each young person where they are — without needing to have everything figured out first.

What therapy with teens can look like

Therapy with teens is not about expecting them to arrive with the perfect words for what they are feeling. We focus first on building a relationship where a teen can feel comfortable, respected, and understood. From there, therapy can become a place to explore emotions, make sense of patterns, strengthen coping, and work through the things that have been feeling difficult or stuck

For some teens, that might look like talking things through more directly. For others, it can be helpful to work in ways that feel a little less formal and more natural, including expressive, creative, or activity-based approaches. We aim to meet teens where they are and build a space that feels supportive, engaging, and responsive to what they need.

A Note for Parents

When a teen is struggling, it can be hard to know what to do or how best to help. Many parents are trying deeply to support their teen while also feeling worried, worn down, or unsure of what is needed. Therapy can offer teens a space where they feel understood and supported, while also recognizing that their experiences are shaped by the relationships and environments around them.

Our work with teens is rooted in relationships. Alongside supporting the teen themselves, there may also be opportunities to support parents in finding ways of responding that feel helpful and  strengthen connection. We hold this work with care, and with the understanding that families are often doing their best in the midst of something hard.
